The Minister of Civil Aviation and Airports of the Puntland Government, Hon. Cabdifataax Ugaas Yaasiin, today led a high-level working inspection visit to General Mohamed Abshir Airport in Garowe, as part of efforts to strengthen aviation services and infrastructure development.
Hon. Cabdifataax Ugaas Yaasiin, accompanied by State Minister Eng. Maxamed Ciise Lacle and Director General Mr. Maax Gabobe, was warmly received upon arrival by the Airport Manager, General Mohamed Abshir, and his deputy. The airport leadership provided a comprehensive briefing to Hon. Cabdifataax Ugaas Yaasiin on the current operational status, passenger services, and key challenges facing the facility.
During the inspection, Hon. Cabdifataax Ugaas Yaasiin toured several critical sections of the airport, including the passenger terminal, runway, arrival area, control tower, fire and rescue services, fuel storage facilities, security units, and technical departments. Throughout the visit, Hon. Cabdifataax Ugaas Yaasiin closely assessed the efficiency of operations and the condition of essential infrastructure.
The Minister, Hon. Cabdifataax Ugaas Yaasiin, also received detailed reports from airport department heads and staff, who highlighted daily operations, safety preparedness, and priority areas requiring development. Particular focus was placed on improving service delivery, enhancing safety systems, and upgrading airport infrastructure.
In his remarks, Hon. Cabdifataax Ugaas Yaasiin emphasized the importance of modernizing aviation services and ensuring that General Mohamed Abshir Airport meets both national and international standards.
Following the inspection, Hon. Cabdifataax Ugaas Yaasiin chaired a meeting with airport management, where discussions centered on operational performance, existing challenges, and strategic development plans aimed at improving efficiency, safety, and passenger services.
