The Chief of the Somali National Army (SNA), General Odowaa Yusuf Raage, on Saturday arrived in Baraawe, the capital of Lower Shabelle region, where he inaugurated the newly built headquarters of the 4th Battalion under the 60th Division of the national army.
Upon his arrival, General Odowaa was warmly received by senior military officers, regional officials, and members of the local administration. The new military facility is part of ongoing efforts by the Somali government to strengthen national security institutions and enhance command and control structures across the country.
In his remarks during the inauguration, General Odowaa praised the troops stationed in Baraawe for their dedication and contributions to stabilizing the region. He emphasized that the new headquarters will play a vital role in coordinating operations against Al-Shabaab militants and improving logistical and administrative support for forces operating in the southern regions.
The establishment of the new command center aligns with the government’s broader security reform plan, which seeks to modernize the Somali National Army, improve infrastructure, and support joint operations with regional and international partners.
