Reports coming from Hargeisa indicate that today Colonel Hassan Adan Mohamed, also known as Ciraaqi, a senior officer in the Somali military, has been released after being held there for several days.
According to information obtained by Dixeed Somali TV, the Colonel was released this morning around noon and was moved out of Hargeisa, where he had been detained since Wednesday.
Sources located in Wajaale, the border area, and in Jigjiga, where he arrived in the afternoon, confirmed to Dixeed Somali TV that he is safe. The release of Colonel Ciraaqi was also confirmed by members of the Somaliland police, who requested anonymity.
Colonel Ciraaqi had been captured on 24 September in Wajaale, and since then he was held in Hargeisa. The reasons behind his detention remain unknown.
